Description
This piece for combined jazz ensemble and orchestra is inspired by this painting (pictured), “The Witch And The Wizard” (2010) by Martin “Buz” Pixley. Features a trombone solo. The form of the piece switches between an altered blues progression and other strangeness. The ending is rock and roll.
One day I was exploring Cummington, Massachusetts with some friends. We saw paper signs pointing to a “curiosity shop” and followed them to a blue house. Buz was waiting outside for potential shoppers. He invited us in and showed us around. He had several “sections”, beginning with the “oriental” section, then the costume section, the doll section, the toy section, and finally the art gallery. I purchased this painting from Buz for $100 cash. Buz is not active online but I’m sure he would appreciate it if you showed up to his curiosity shop if you ever find yourself in West Cummington, Massachusetts.
PDF Score and Parts included with purchase. But why would you want to buy this?
